Federal Government bans medical doctors in Nigeria.
In a bid to improve medical services in the country, the Federal government of Nigeria has banned Medical Doctors working in government owned Hospitals from working or owning private hospitals and clinics.
It is not news that Nigerians mostly government officials and top business people travel abroad in search of good medical care, a situation that do not go down well with average Nigerians as it has made the medical sector in the country a national disaster.
The medical sector in Nigeria like almost every sector needs drastic and urgent attention. However, the ban on the doctors from working or owning private hospital or clinics is one that does not go down well with medical practitioners across the nation. This is because they think that the decay in the sector is not the doing of the medical practitioners but the actions and inactions of the government both past and present.
In few days running into weeks, this decision of the government will generate heated debates in the very vibrant Nigerian electronic and social media as the international community will watch with keen interest the way events will play out.
